2,400 breathalysed in Dublin
Saturday, 15 March 2008 07:32 A major Garda initiative to tackle drink driving and speeding over the bank holiday period is under way.
The Garda Traffic Corps are carrying out mandatory breath -*test*-('")ing of drivers at mobile patrols in cities and towns throughout the country.
The Taoiseach has said that while he commended the efforts of all the agencies involved in promoting road safety awareness, it was up to individual road users to act responsibly and appealed for extra caution on the roads.
AdvertisementJust before midnight last night, gardaí in Dublin had breathalysed around 2,400 drivers, resulting in seven arrests.
