So there's some footage here (it was on road wars I think) : LINK

Do you think the takedown by this officer was just unfortunate, or do you think that it was a bit excessive. I've heard and seen mixed reactions about this. To be honest, I think it was just unlucky for the officer that the guy lost his footing. At the end of the day you do have to be assertive and that's all I think that the officer was trying to achieve.

I can't see that the officer did anything wrong unsure.gif

It's just the way the guy smashes his head in to the car some say it's a bit heavy handed.

Oldbillplod- 10-14-2006
He he was sober then it wouldn't of happened as he wouldn't of lost his balance in the first place.

I woulnd't be very happy if I was the drunk man, but then again its his own fault for being in that state.
On the subject of takedown's, what do people think of what happens in the USA. After watching the Worlds Wildest Police Video's on 5, the police over there seem a bit rough when arresting people.

They can't afford to pussyfoot around, if someone gets the better of them they get their gun and then it's goodnight Vienna.

Behave and you won't get arrested. When you do get arrested, behave.
If you get drunk, don't smash windows.

If the police tell you to do something, do it. If you don't like it, complain. Complain at the correct time.

The drunk was the maker of his own destiny, if he didn't start the cataclysmic chain of events, (or better still his parents didn't have sex in the first place).

He wouldn't be missing a shoe, nor would he have a sore head.

As for the states, well I would be putting people down ASAP if I worked there too. They've got a lot of scrotes who have guns, and don't give 2 monkeys F$%^s about killing the Po Po.

P.S as harsh as it sounds I've not won a fight where I didn't go "dirty" early. My main job is to stay purty and go home at night.

Firstly no problems with what this officer did. He was simply trying to restrain old drunk fool when this happened. It wasn't deliberate and just the ways things happen.

James in response to your post mate, in America it is a much more violent area for Police to work in and they simply have to adapt to thier surroundings. As you will discover mate, in the end we all want to go home at the end of our shifts. As a copper this can sometimes we a real challange. As a result, sometimes you have to be a bit rougher then normal to get control of a situation before it esculates into something you can't control.

I think that Police Officer did a fine job in saving that drunken man from potentially staggering out onto the road where he could easily have been struck by a motor vehicle and subsequently killed or seriously injured.
Fine job indeed, Put the Officer up for a commendation that's what I say. ipf/tu.gif
