This happened where I live, were they racing??

Five firefighters were taken to hospital on Christmas morning after two engines crashed.

The Southend crew and one from Leigh on Sea collided on a call to rescue three people trapped in a flat fire.

Two more appliances were dispatched to Southend in Essex and the residents were rescued and the fire extinguished.

The crews suffered minor injuries and were later released from hospital. An investigation by the police and the fire service is under way.

Chief Fire Officer David Johnson said: "It is truly awful when an incident like this occurs, thankfully nobody was seriously injured.

"A full investigation is under way and any findings which can improve safety will be implemented."

From what I've heard, seems both arrived same junction at same time, one coming from one side the other perpendicular to it. They were from different stations both entered junction at roughly same time then crunch. Seems like pure accident. Almost happened me a few time too
