I hope the investigation is about the problems the youths were causing as opposed to why the police made the poor girl get run over, but somehow I doubt it......
Police on Teesside have begun an investigation after a 12-year-old girl was hit by a car as officers dispersed a group of youths.
The girl is in hospital with serious head and pelvic injuries after the incident in Hartlepool on Friday.
Residents in the town's Norfolk Close reported a group of youths breaking glass bottles into the road.
When officers attempted to break up the gang, one of the girls ran into the path of a car on a dual carriageway.
Police escort
A spokesman for Cleveland Police said: "We received reports of a group of youths breaking glass bottles and kicking a ball against cars.
"When officers were deployed to disperse the group, some jumped on the bonnets of cars and one girl ran into the A689 and was struck by a car.
"She was taken by ambulance under police escort to Hartlepool's University Hospital, but was later transferred to the James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.
"Her condition is said to be serious."
"We would appeal for any witnesses to contact us."
The report will say police shouldn't have pursued, like all reports of this nature say
Officers didn't control the group, failure of duty of care, blah blah, social workers and do gooders, they're just kids blah blah blah. It's not their fault they were smashing bottles, why not spend public money to take them paintballing so they can blah blah stop being aggressive, and build a new youth club so they can blah blah just smash it up and smoke dope in the toilets.
Does the above sound about right Sarge?
