I heard that Dorset require you to get 10.4 on the Bleep -*test*-('") though, harsh!

I thought the fitness -*test*-('") was standard across the country, I know in Essex it isn't anywhere near that high for the bleep -*test*-('")

It's level 5.4 on the 15 metre shuttle run. (only about 3 minutes running really ohmy.gif )

The firearms and dog officers in Essex only have to run to 9.9

10.4?! That is definately a bit harsh!

For the MET Specials there is currently no fitness -*test*-('"), only a medical, but joining the regulars I think requires -*test*-('")s in the areas of strength and endurance.

Do plain clothes members in the UK use rigid cuffs?.. I could'nt imagine them being carried covertly.

You can carry them covertly with a shoulder holster.

These are the Cuffs still being issued to date by Northamptonshire Police (HIATT model 2050). Another one of the forces scared to issue speedcuffs, and whose officers try to tell qualified private sector staff that they can't carry them!

with regards CID carrying rigid cuffs, this is one of the many "covert" carriage holders available.

The plain clothes officers at Medowhall shopping centre (West yorkshire i think dry.gif ) carry chain link cuffs in their trouser pockets so they can wear only T-shirts and trousers (before anyone makes any comments) when they are mixing with the shoppers

Once you've got one cuff on you are given absolute control. You can pull grown men onto the floor with the techniques. The more they struggle the more it hurts - absolutely true. You will be taught everything you need to know and I'm sure after training you'll be a lot more confident about it!

It's not exactly true, both myself and one other large oaf type officer can actually beat the handcuffs.

We have stood up with the OST trainer going purple trying to get us to comply to no avail, no sense no feeling!

Now arm locks and wrist locks are another matter as they can cause involuntary spasms.

Once the cuffs are on the bigger you are the less chance you've got of slipping them around to the front, especially in the rear stacked position.

I hate when pal goes into the van cuffed behind, and comes out with hands in front and a big grin.

Sarge- 06-19-2006
Yea one thing in the van imagine that in the back of the car, if you didn't have someone with them in the back theycould easily wrap the cuffs around the drivers neck
