The Independent Police Complaints Commission is managing an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service into police involvement in a traffic collision on the North Circular road on 28 April, in which two people were killed and four seriously injured.
The collision occurred at about 12.30am on the A406 junction with Brownlow Road, Haringey, N13, when a BMW collided with the central reservation traffic lights, and also with a separate vehicle, a Citroen. There were a total of six casualties. Prior to the collision, the BMW had refused to stop for police in Pretoria Road.
A female was taken to the North Middlesex Hospital but was pronounced dead at 2.15am. She was formally identified as Natalie Anne Marie Forde, 26 years old, of Oakwood, London. The sole occupant of the Citroen was taken to the Royal Free Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6.22am. He was formally identified as Aden Gure, 46 years old, of Wembley.
A male was taken to a West London Hospital where he is in a stable condition.
The three occupants of the BMW were also taken to hospital.
IPCC Commissioner David Petch said: "I offer my sympathies to the families who have suffered loss in this terribly sad incident, and also to those who have been injured.
"I have decided that the IPCC should manage an investigation into the way the police conducted their pursuit of the BMW, in order to ensure that it was in line with agreed policy and procedure. It will also aim to establish whether the police should have done anything differently. This investigation will be conducted by the MPS under my direction and control.
"IPCC Deputy Senior Investigator Christopher Patridge was at the scene of the crash on Saturday morning and throughout the weekend, and has maintained close contact with the MPS Investigating Officer throughout.
