Three guess's who im hoping will answer this one ipf/tu.gif

Do you guys take your firearms with you when off duty ( as in the US ) or are you armed only on duty as in the UK ?

P.s If you consider this to be operational info just let me know and i will pull the thread cheers

Your correct as that is the general rule. No officer in Garda uniform my carry a firearm. Detectives are allowed all of us are firearms trained but only a few detectives in each station are armed. In certain units such as special branch or drugs unit like myself all of us are armed due to the nature of the folks we deal with we also provide armed backup to our uniformed brothers and sisters wink.gif Hope that helps

No weapons at home .. for Canadian cops as well...(At least those from Quebec Province)

Unless you are a detective and can be call at last minutes.
I would say generally speaking that Weapons stays at the police station.

There just isnt nearly half the guns here as in the us. A shooting fatal or not here is big news stabbings are most common but as for firearms theyre very uncommon Irish culture isnt a gun cultre simple as. Now some special branch (anti terror) do take their wepons home but this practise is dying out due to the now non existence of IRA
