| Youre correct as that is the genral rule. No officer in Garda uniform my carry a firearm. detectives are allowed all of us are firearm trained but only a few detectives in each station are armed. In certain units such as special branch or drugs unit like myself all of us are armed due to the nature of the folks we deal with we also provide armed backup to our uniformed brothers and sisters |

A shooting fatal or not here is big news stabbings are most common but as for firearms theyre very uncommon Irish culture isnt a gun cultre simple as.
