Neither do I ... not possible ipf/notworthy.gif Post away, besides builds up post count in the process!

I like the way the mondeo is kitted out, but as one who has never liked the look of the new style mondeo in estate or saloon form I can't say I like it very much sad.gif ipf/qqb010.gif

I like them a lot actually. Especially the 2.5 (drool). That one is a traffic car, hence the half battenburg, our normal patrol cars are marked more like the Terrano.

The terrano, I like that one ipf/specool.gif

We have a 2.5 estate and it is pants, just thought I would share that little piece of information with everyone.

I'm basing my opinion more on paper stats than actual experience. Maybe they are 'pants'... I have heard about reliability issues here is all?

Also, I believe the low profiles puncture easily and the 18" alloys prone to breakage. Then again, I'm sure any car with that setup would be vulnerable to such issues on our lumpy roads!

I'm talking about acceleration capabilities, all the other problems you have mentioned I haven't experienced.

The terrano is a right heap. Its too narrow for its height and handles like a greasy pig. Also the modeos have an awful tendancy to fall apart, although i do like the heated windscreen

Robotack- 09-01-2006
Something tells me that some Gards here would manage to make an Abrams Tank fall apart.

I think the fact that many of them are still going is a -*test*-('")ament to the sturdyness of whats a basic family saloon!

What happened the saab the traffic corps had, heard they wrapped it around a lampost. If I keep complaining maybe they'll give me a nice volvo. Also seen a new unmarked subrau forrester the otherday which was strange

wheels-go-round- 09-01-2006
Anybody know if the garda mondeos are automatics or manual gears? I've read about acceleration issues with it but I've heard it's a reliable car other than that issue. Hopefully it's a manual as i believe this gives faster acceleration?

Robotack- 09-01-2006
The Forresters are bit unusual looking I think.

The 2 x Saab 93's are still in use. One in the DMR Regional Traffic Unit, the other I believe has spent time in Cork & Waterford. They were not liked because of a lack of rear seat space. Also, they are fitted with a "carnation" system the same as ambulances. It's an emergency lighting / siren system that runs self diagnostics and all sorts of funny stuff, but best of all you can take out the keys and the engine stays running to power the battery for lights etc., at an accident scene or whatever. It will cut out however if you let off the handbrake or puch the clutch. Problem is them electrics werent quite compatible so the Saabs have been a bit troublesome.

The Garda Mondeos are all manual now I believe.

Hey Sarge, would this be the kind of Volvo you'd be after... Good news, the first marked Volvo that I know of, ever. A step in the right direction, but an S60 would be a bigger step. ipf/clapping.gif
