Hundreds of anti-drink spiking kits are to be given to Lincolnshire pub and club goers to raise awareness of the problem.

The kit contains a pipette which is used to put a droplet of the drink onto three different -*test*-('") pads. The kit explains how to interpret the results - two of the -*test*-('")s will result in a colour change of the -*test*-('") pad and on the third lines indicate the result.

Sergeant Adam Gadd said: 'We are providing these -*test*-('") kits so that drinkers can be reassured and that they can take appropriate action if it reveals a positive result. However, we are not advocating that using this -*test*-('") removes the responsibility to remain vigilant or to drink safely.'

The two main drugs used in drink spiking are Rohypnol (benzodiazepine flunitrazepam) and GHB (gammahydroxybutyrate or liquid ecstasy), which are collectively known on the street as Roofies. Ten other drugs have been implicated in drug rapes. Fifty four per cent of drug rape victims are also drugged by alcohol.

The force is also giving out 1500 Alcotop plugs which fit over the top of bottles.
