This seriously shocks me, I don't know why, but I find it quite hard to watch. Horrible to watch.

This video shows how dangerous it can be sometimes. This shows how dodgy a situation can turn in a split second, an excellent training tool.

Those two officers allowd the scumbags to get way too close, way too fast. I pray that they wernt hurt badly and the scumbags caught some serious jail time.

What I found disgusting however, were the comments about that video.

Norm, policing is so much different in this country interacting with the public is something we do.

I agree the comments about that video are disgusting.

I believe they got caught, not sure what sentencing they got though. Also, I think one of the officers is back at work, but the other had to retire his injuries were so bad.

If only I could put my comments on, but I'd get banned for life on here. ipf/rage.gif

Happened in New Malden both coppers had relatively minor injuries. Suspects got "spoken to" when caputured up the road. A father and son combo got 3 years for that attack.

fatboyjim154- 10-15-2006
Yep, poor innit.

What I want all future officers to observe from that is :

BATON RETENTION, BATON RETENTION, BATON RETENTION.

Did he let go of it? No ... it could well have been the last thing he ever did.

If not for the spray it could have dragged on longer. Guess what. We havent even got that!

Sarge- 10-16-2006
Or metal batons or rigid cuffs or stab vests or syringe proof gloves the list is endless

Robotack- 10-16-2006
I feel like a stuck record complaining about this stuff but it's really destroying morale, don't you think Sarge??
(Probably not so much on your unit because you have Sig-gy to fall back on)

I noticed an article in the Herald Newspaper last week where a few Gardai had made contact with them about the situation and that some have actualy purchased their own armour.

There is countless calls every night regarding knives etc. The only ones the public get to hear about are the ones that go bad and actually make the papers, usually beacuse the cop is stabbed, yet somehow everyone seems to think that those isolated few incidents, are the only ones that happenned that week / month.

I'd love to bring whatever government official that makes these non decisions out in the car for a night and see how vulnerable they feel trying to do this job, one on one with a coced out scroat, with a cotton shirt on and nothing in yer pocket but yer tic tacs.

We're pawns in a vicious game, it'll all go wrong one day. Like gort the other other day ERU pelted your man with bean bags and finally had to use a live round on him. Now they're armed and padded to the teeth but what aout all the uniform about? Dont think the fleeces will stop a shot gun blast things cant even stop a breeze.

I'll bring the ministers out in Kilo for a night all through blanch and finglas maybe even up dunsink lane see how quick we get the gear then
