A 62-year-old man has died in an accident involving two cars and an ambulance answering an emergency call.

Police said the ambulance's blue light was flashing and its siren was on at the time of the collision in Allard Way, in Stoke, Coventry, on Saturday.

The man, thought to be from the Coventry area, was driving a Fiat. The ambulance crew and the driver of a Volvo suffered minor injuries.

West Midlands Police have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The ambulance was responding to a 999 call from a patient suffering from chest pains.

Another ambulance was sent.

West Midlands Ambulance Service and police have opened an investigation.
