A man has been jailed for nine months after crashing his car and attempting to drive away in a police patrol car.
Shrewsbury Crown Court was told Darren Thomas, 29, from Wrexham told police he was drunk after crashing his car in Wentnor in Shropshire last November.
When he was put in their vehicle he climbed into the driver's seat and pulled away, punching an officer who tried to stop him.
Thomas admitted drink-driving, criminal damage, dangerous driving and assault.
He also pleaded guilty to taking a vehicle without consent and was banned from driving for three years and ordered to take an extended driving -*test*-('") before he can drive again.
