Two men have had to be cut free from a car which crashed during a high speed police chase.
The incident happened in the early hours of Saturday morning when a car failed to stop for officers on the A96 near Inverness.
The vehicle turned onto the A9 with police in pursuit, before leaving the road, crashing into trees and catching fire.
The men were rescued by firefighters and taken to Raigmore Hospital.
Police said the driver of the vehicle was being treated for serious but non life threatening injuries.
An 18-year-old male is to be reported to the procurator fiscal for a number of road traffic offences.
Before the crash, police followed the vehicle for about nine miles when it left the road at Daviot Wood, crashing into several trees and catching fire.
Officers from Northern Constabulary put out the blaze and the two men had to be cut free from the car by the fire service.
The road was closed for five hours while a full police investigation was carried out.
