A new world record was set by Metropolitan Police recruits for the most people handcuffed together.

A total of 305 officers and staff entered the Alternative Book of World Records at the Met's training centre in Hendon, north London on Thursday.

Recruits carried out the stunt during their lunch-break.

The event raised around £1,000 for the recruits' chosen charity, the Richard House Children's Hospice in Beckton, east London.

A police spokesman said: "It was done in our lunchtime - it took about 25 minutes."

A team of officers were on hand to release the "detainees" once the record was achieved.

The Book of Alternative Records is a website dedicated to the world of unusual human achievements records.

I'd say that was well stressed by press office or else "the scum" and other tabloids would be leading with POLICE HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO!
