What a numpty
A Metropolitan Police Flying Squad officer is facing jail for internet child grooming offences.
Det Con Glenn Algar thought he was sending pornographic images to a minor but it was an undercover officer.
Algar, 44, admitted one charge of attempting to engage a child in sexual activity and 10 counts of causing a child to view indecent images.
Algar, from Potter Bar, Herts, also admitted six counts of making and possessing indecent images of children.
Algar, a Flying Squad officer, who has served in the police for 25 years, confessed to possessing 168 indecent images of children at Southwark Crown Court.
One of the pictures was graded level five, the most severe grading given by police to an indecent image.
Algar groomed his victim for five months, between June and November last year.
He was arrested last November at Colindale police station, north London.
He will remain in custody until the sentencing on 8 March.
