Police in Cornwall are appealing for witnesses to an incident in which they say a marked police car was deliberately rammed.

Two officers were slightly injured on the old A30 at Dingles Steam near Launceston on Saturday night.

Police say a white pick-up truck was pulled to the side of the road to speak to the driver about a vehicle defect.

As the two officers were about to get out of their car, the truck reversed at speed, striking the car.

The driver then made off.

Officers say inside the truck there was a woman with a child in her lap and a young child sitting between the woman and the driver.

The make of the vehicle is unknown but it is thought the last three letters of the registration are FVC.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said: "The actions of the driver of the pick-up were very dangerous.

"Fortunately, the officers were not badly hurt but the police vehicle could not be used which reduced our ability to respond to emergency incidents in north Cornwall."

Anyone who has information to help identify the driver and the pick-up truck is asked to contact the police.
