As a 'newbie' to this whole police malarky, I thought I'd share one of my recent duties with you. Feel free to comment, ask questions etc.

rank: sc

service: 1 month

location: surrey

planned duty hours: 1500 - 2200

***

1500 i arrived and booked on, paired with a regular and we're out in one of our response cars

1520 we take a call to a group of kids hanging about on a railway bridge. BTP aren't in the area and it should be a quick job so we don't mind. My colleague had a few words with them and they decided to leave.

1550 EFPN issued to a driver on zig zags at a chip shop.

1615 asked to look for a guy wanted for theft and burglary. He was nearly caught the other night but escaped after a foot chase. He sleeps rough so we parked up and walked a bit trying not to be seen or heard. We come across him asleep, he's too sleepy to put up much of a struggle and that's one in the bag for me. He was cuffed.

1730 Back out on patrol

1800 We get called to back up fire service to a shed fire they think it is arson we get there to a hail of flames. The sheds are used to keep wheelie bins in and some kids have got in and set them alight but have done a runner...no description of anything

1930 Stopped vehicle for speeding and the driver was holding a can of beer. Called a traffic mobile with a breath kit and They took a sample of breath. The driver was just over the limit and was arrested by my colleague. When he arrived at the custody block he had dropped back below the limit and was realeased with a stern warning.

2030 Argument in the street. Both parties pointed in opposite directions. NFA.

2100 Called to a brawl in the street, town centre. I arrest one women for D&D.

2230 Off home!

Yeah, definately enjoying it, hopefully that wont change. Some of the other shifts haven't been so lively, I can tell you. Standing in the rain for a few hours wasn't fun!
