I went to Charing Cross police station today in London and what did I see outside?
A marked PCSO transit with blue lights, what is that all about?
To be used if the PCSO is driving to his beat area and comes accross an RTA

It's for the TFL OCU PCSO's, the blue lights only work when the vehicle is stationary with the handbrake applied and is used for road closures, cordons, RTA's etc.
Thank god for that, I was getting worried then

I must agree with you there Oldbillplod. I know that PCSOs do a great job when deployed correctly but allowing them to do response work is dangerous and unecessary. I'm glad that it turned out that this was not the case!
Was it a MET PCSO van, like this one

They have the same van as the picture but it has a bold yellow stripe edged with red reflective and red lettering 'POLICE SUPPORT' or 'POLICE COMMUNITY SUPPORT' the markings are the same as the MPS traffic wardens vehicles 'RED ROUTE PATROL'
