It has caused problems with civillians driving past incidents huh.gif

Exactly, It might look like there are more of us out there but you can bet the public wouldn't be so understanding when they see a marked police vehicle drive passed an incident without stopping.

If a PCSO is driving a vehicle and they come accross an accident are they obligated to stop? also, because because they support the police will they turn up and direct traffic and things like that?

yep. I believe there are. thats why there are som many vans going around with civilians in them, but as far as i've seen there's no distinctive markings to say who drives them e.g.

i dont know which are which so pcsos may have access to all or only some

Also why not use the PCSOs to crew the mobile CCTV vans to free up police officers?

Oldbillplod- 06-03-2006
They might be SOCO officers if they are in civvies.

01mterr1- 06-03-2006

I will be when I start. I bet its not force policy though, but as if i'm gonna just drive past and give them a cheery wave! Same as any incident where i'm not in immediate danger really but if someone wants urgent assistance, i'll be there as well!

As for PCSOs crewing mobile CCTV vans, I couldn't agree more, after all it was in CCTV where I started my career, and would still be if I could pay my bills on their wages!

Photo 1 - Traffic Wardens Van (Delivering cones / signs)

Photo 2 - SOCO van (Driven by civillians / Officers)

Whats OSD?

01mterr1- 06-04-2006
So why would PCSOs use a PCSO/Sponsered car?

Donkey Walloper- 06-05-2006
If they have a large area to cover or have some enquiries to do mabie????

Are you going to the open day?

So what type of inquiries could PCSOs get involved in-appart from missing persons
