The family of Adam Wyatt, 20, who died after an incident at Liquid nightclub in Gloucester, has donated a German shepherd puppy to police in his memory.
More than £7,000 was raised after a collection was started at Adam's funeral. His family said it wanted the cash to benefit the local community.
His father Malcolm Wyatt, 50, said Adam had a love of Alsatians and was keen to join the police as a dog handler.
"We wanted to say thanks as the police have been really good to us," he said.
The puppy has been named Buster in tribute to the 20-year-old who shared the nickname as a child.
In addition to the £3,000 which has been spent on Buster, £3,000 is being donated to Hardwicke Rangers Football Club where Adam used to play.
A further £250 was spent on Christmas presents for children in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The remainder is set to be used for a bench outside Hardwicke Church and a tree in Adam's memory.
