A woman was assaulted by her police officer husband because there was nothing to eat, a trial has heard.
Grampian Police Det Con Warren Wattie, 36, denies assaulting his wife Jacqueline on two occasions at their home in Dyce, Aberdeen.
Mrs Wattie, 35, told Aberdeen Sheriff Court she feared she was going to end up in intensive care as her husband put his hands around her throat.
The physiotherapist broke down as she described the alleged events.
Mrs Wattie said during 25 March this year her husband punched her on the arm and at one point was "jumping up and down on the spot with rage".
She added that she also thought her husband had been drinking.
Mrs Wattie said her husband swore as he told her: "There's nothing to eat, you don't think about me."
Mrs Wattie said she threatened to call 999 and told her husband she was leaving.
She said that as she tried to find keys, Det Con Wattie "chased her" around the house.
Mrs Wattie said: "All of a sudden he grabbed me, he had his hands round my neck and I ended up on the floor in the kitchen. It all happened in slow motion and I was on the floor and he was standing astride me.
"I thought I was going to end up in intensive care with neurological damage."
Mrs Wattie also alleged that on an earlier occasion Det Con Wattie jabbed at chair at her like "he was a lion tamer".
