Ok I know that the police aren't allowed to strike so what do they do instead? Surely there's some action they can take if they're unhappy, further to contacting the fed or is it a tough luck attitude ohmy.gif

It's being banded about at the moment that we will work to rule if we do not get our 3% annual payrise.

Wasn't there a poll a while back about going on strike and most officers said they would if they were allowed! ipf/clapping.gif

OBP refers to work to rule:

Just in case you're not aware,

Work to rule is where everybody will follow the rule book exactly : this will eventually slow everything down. Also, sometimes involves refusing to do duties/tasks which, although related, aren't in the job description.

We are on the verge of industrial action on two fronts at the moment. One in relation to a current public hearings session by the Office of Police Integrity that has seen 3 detectives suspended on full pay pending further investigations in relation to allegations by some crook. The second will be in relation to our next pay negotiations witht he government. The detectives wrangle will involve mas meetings in the city and I am not sure what else at this stage as I am on leave.

The pay dispute will involve work to rule, bans on overtime, bans on processing speed and red light camera information, bans on issuing traffic infringements (warnings and summonses instead), non attendance at courst without subpeona, and a variety of other day to day activities. ph34r.gif
