Its the Met diplomatic protection.

As OBP said, they are used as Diplomatic Protection Group (I think it's known as CO14?

What do they do then?

(Dont say protect diplomats)

DPG cars are red so they are easily identifiable to Dippylomats.

DPG are responsible for the obvious, fixed posts outside sensitive addresses of a political nature, and armed hospital guards of all types.

Some have been given CO prefixes. SO19 is now CO, and comes under the territorial police bods. Anything thats SO is still specialist. Now to be really confusing, CO19 specialist firearms officers are still know as SO19 SFO's blink.gif huh.gif ipf/daze.gif
