Sounds like a good idea, especially as verification would alert the Mods to any ACPO etc who creep through the net who the guys might not want reading their comments.

Access:

Will be by secure (capitals, numbers, characters included) PASSWORD. Just to let you know that I will be monitoring who is accessing the private forum - so let's keep the password secret - which means no telling other people : including others who already have access but might claim to have forgotten. They will need to contact me if this happens!!


To get access:

• Send an E-MAIL from your OFFICIAL @force.police.uk e-mail address. Send the e-mail to "wwpster@googlemail.com" - check the e-mail address before sending it to the wrong person! Subject of the e-mail something like "private area". In the e-mail put your RANK & SURNAME e.g. PC SMITH. and also your force and station. Include your forum username ASWELL. Typically this information wont be used but if we suspect you are gaining unauthorised access then it may be verified and that random checks on the information may be carried out. I hope you appreciate this is a necessary precaution to maintain maximum security for the area. Also be aware that only UK police personnel with the power of arrest may have access (this will be extended if successful.)

After this::: To ensure that the authenticity of the e-mail address, the password to the forum will be sent back to your official police e-mail address.

There will be no exceptions so sorry even if you do have rest days

Your details will not be disclosed to anyone.


The terms of having this are:

• There is no breach of security (i.e. the password) to anybody.
  
• People comply with the arrangements for access and that this runs smoothly.
  
• Postings in other areas of the forum do not decrease.
  
• There is no feeling or atmosphere of segregation between members who have access and those who don't.
  
• No discussion that takes place within the area is bought up outside it.

All that is needed now are ideas of any classy names for it or just "UK OFFICERS PRIVATE FORUM??"

You may be interested to know that AUSTRALIAN and IRISH GARDA officers are now also permitted. With the assistance of Disco and Sarge, a system for verifying them has been developed.

Just to let you know, the password to access the area has been removed.

Hopefully this will make the area more secure - permissions will be set in your user account which will give you access. This means that unless you allow somebody else to use your account then unauthorised access is not going to happen.

Also, the area appears empty to those who don't have access. Rest assured, this is not the case
