You might think differently when you are in the job and you want to talk about things without others evesdropping

Nothing, if I wanted to go to another forum to do this I would, however I don't but thankyou all the same.
I am quite happy here.

Fair enough. For my two cents, I am opposed to this idea. However, I'm not a cop so I don't expect my opinion to count for much.

How many of the members of this forum are genuine police personell as opposed to what I call, Garda Groupies?

How could they be verified ?

What purpose would be served, bearing in mind the various legislation that would prevent GENUINE police members from divulging anything that would constitute an official secret?

I am sure that there is an equivalent to The Official Secrets Act 1963 ipf/em2700.gif and The Garda Síochána Act 2005 ipf/rage.gif in The U.K. & N.I.

We don't want to give Nuala ipf/confused.gif and Judge Morris ipf/sick.gif any excuse to be sticking their beaks in here........eh Sarge and Doghandler?

Easy on there Norm ipf/STOP.gif . The Republic of Ireland is NOT a constituent part of Great Britain or The United Kingdom. It is only when the Premership Soccer League is in season do we become British ipf/whistle.gif . Northern Ireland is not part of Great Britain, it is a part of the United Kingdom.

Apart from the geography everything else is more or less the same ipf/drinking.gif . If only the Brits would learn to speak English, proper, like...... ipf/bigsmily.gif

Is that the UNAUTHORISED, UNENDORSED, UNINFORMATIVE & UNWANTED POLICE/EMERGENCY SERVICE magazine that fleeces decent members of the public with dodgy advertising sales techniques. (One copy of their magazine is sent to each Garda Station in Ireland to cater for their 12000 Garda readers.) The articles have nothing of consequence relating to Ireland (all are lifted from internet ). DONT GET ME STARTED! ipf/rage.gif

Yea red hand dont want to go causing any trouble now do we.

Just to let you know, if this area goes ahead it will be moderated just like anyother part of the forum

I like the idea

Disco- 07-19-2006
Me too. I'm all for having an open forum, but sometimes there may be some posts that coppers just want to chat with other coppers about ie certain jobs attended etc etc.

I mean in the end it would only be one small area of this forum, so to me not really a big thing.

However not to upset anyone, just my views.

Your views and everyone elses in this forum are appreciated even if I dont have to agree with some of them. rolleyes.gif Just for the record. I am not for or against a restricted area on the forum. What I have done is pointed out legal difficulties that would be encountered by any GENUINE Garda who made a post that deliberately or accidently contravened legislation such as The Garda Síochána Act 2005 or any person who misrepresented ph34r.gif themselves as a member of An Garda Síochána when in fact they were not.

This post has not been commented on in any meaningful way. ipf/confused.gif

I am very, very surprised that The Sarge who purports to be a member of An Garda Síochána has not commented on this or any other piece of legislation. But then again, this site does not have a verification process and leaves itself wide open to Garda Groupies and their U.K.? U.S. etc equivalent misrepresenting themselves to the forum.

The silence has me deafened. ipf/surrender.gif

Sarge- 07-20-2006
It doesn't really matter Red Hand as I am a guard, and from a long service on this forum I've noticed alot of people who prentend to be officers from other countrys mostly the UK who after a while and after a few slip ups leave.

We talked about this section before and one of the ideas was to contact you via the station.

I'm sure under section 3 of the Garda Sícohána Act 2005

Describibing themselfs falsely as a member of An Garda Siochána would be an offence
