| Theyre on appliances already have been on them for a few years now |
I suppose its not an issue of training if you rotate between FF and Ambo. Its still an issue of whether to put them on appliances over here but I can see it happening pretty soon. The AED's a piece of cake to use anyway so it wouldnt take much to add into the Fist Aid training we already have!

Theyre idiot proof most of them. Like the ones here in the airport it tells you where to put thew pads then it does the work itself. Quite often a fire appliance turns up to a medical call before an ambo as theyre normally able to get to the scene quikcer. An applicance and an ambo are always called to certain case like cardiac arrest or a oap has fallen down the stairs as A. can be there quicker and B. Help to move casulty onto spinal board and out of the house

I can see that happening throughout the UK soon. They have used fire stations as joint ambo stations for a year or so here so I think it will be natural progression to sending them both to certain incidents. In particualr when the new RCC's are opened.

DFB have more ambos in the dublin region then HSE (NHS) and the majority of their ambos are tied up with patient transfer services from hospital to hospital etc. The DFB and HSE control rooms are side by side in the DFB HQ but sometimes HSE are reluctant to hand calls over to DFB people are surprised when they call and ambo and an appliance turns up

It would be a major shock over here if that started happening. BUT its a normal thing in the likes of America (and Dublin) so I can see it happening!

No coincidence Dublni has the best ambulance response times in the country (Including appliances) averege time from call to scene is 5 mins

| QUOTE (Sarge @ Jan 14 2006, 01:08 PM) | | Well I'm not sure if its the case there but it certainly is here with a call like a house fire going well person reported in a retained area the retained motor is mobilized as well as a full time unit so at least one will get there |
Any persons reported shout here is three pumps!
Usually as I get to the station, the first pump is pulling out of the appliance bay so we are usually only a couple of minutes behind!
|
In Avon, on a wholetime station, they will send out two appliances, and with a retained station, the send out the retained appliance, and another appliance from the closet wholetime station.
Priority Call- 01-14-2006
They dont seem to see a difference here whether its a wholetime or retained pump just so long as the right amount of appliances for that type of incident are sent!

Does it make a difference if the nearest station is retained?

Here atleast 1 wholetime appliance is sent
