An ambulance crew's bravery has been praised after shots were fired during an emergency call-out in County Antrim.
The incident happened in the Dunclug estate in Ballymena early on 20 May, however, details have just emerged.
The crew saw several hooded men smashing the windows of a house. Two shots were then fired.
The crew withdrew and reported the incident to the PSNI who later found a man with a head injury. The same ambulance crew returned to aid the man.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service has commended "the bravery and dedication" of the staff on duty that night.
"Their actions are in stark contrast to those of the person who fired these shots," said a spokesperson.
"NIAS management and staff are committed to the provision of an ambulance service to anyone who needs the service, at the time they need it and wherever they need it.
"Ambulance staff must be able to perform their duties without fear of attack of any sort."
That is bloody awful

There seems to be more and more attacks on the Fire Service and the Ambulance Service
