A special constable is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after he was dragged along by a car when he tried to arrest a man in Nottingham.

The 33-year-old man was injured as he tried to arrest a suspect at Grindon Crescent, in Bulwell Hall, on Tuesday.

Nottinghamshire Police said it regarded the incident as attempted murder.

A local man, 20, was arrested at the scene. Two men aged 24, 20 and a 17-year-old youth, all from the Bulwell area, have also been arrested.

Police said the special constable would be undergoing further medical examination and surgery on Wednesday.

Officers said the men made off in the car which was involved in an accident on Hucknall Road shortly after.

The scenes at Grindon Crescent and Hucknall Road were cordoned off and door-to-door inquiries are being carried out.

Officers have appealed for anyone who witnessed either of the two incidents to come forward.

Hope he makes a full quick recovery and the scum are caught. Not nice when any officer is injured, but this guy will be off his full time job now, I doubt they'll be too chuffed.

Police have arrested two more people in connection with the injury of a special constable in Nottingham.

The special constable, 33, who has not been named, suffered serious injuries after he was dragged along the street by a car in Nottingham on Tuesday.

A 22-year-old man from Bulwell in Nottingham and a 19-year-old woman from Riddings, Derbyshire have been arrested and are being questioned by police.

The constable is recovering in hospital after undergoing facial surgery.

He was injured as he tried to arrest a suspect at Grindon Crescent in Bulwell Hall on Tuesday evening.

Nottinghamshire Police said it regarded the incident as attempted murder.

One man, aged 20, was arrested at the scene. He and three additional men, aged 24, 20 and 17, who were also arrested, were later released on police bail.

The car involved in the incident was a black Volvo saloon that had been stolen in Nottingham in the past week.
